Student evaluation:
Strategy to Improve Supply and Utilization Drugs and Vaccine Course Evaluation for Tropical Diseases is a mandatory course for students of the Tropical Medicine Postgraduate Program UGM, and students of the Implementation Research of TDR Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme at UGM. Since its first accreditation by tropEd Network in 2018, there were more than 50 students of the Implementation Research of TDR Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme who joined the course as one of their mandatory requirements. The course was also joined by 9 students from the tropEd Network (4 students), Network on Humanitarian Action (NOHA) (4 students), and Australian Consortium for 'In-Country' Indonesian Studies (ACICIS) (1 student) in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

This course involves visits to the national pharmaceutical industry, Biofarma, to show the students the process of drugs and vaccines productions. Hence, the students have got full understanding of the strategy to improve the supply and utilization of drugs and vaccines from upstream to downstream.

This method of practical learning promotes a greater comprehension and appreciation of the subject matter. When students can explore new environments, observe practical demonstrations, and participate in interactive learning activities, they are more likely to be motivated and actively participate. The enthusiasm generated by these experiences contributes to a positive classroom atmosphere and enhances overall learning outcomes as can be seen from the results of their assignments.
Lessons learned:
25. Lessons learned: The diverse backgrounds of students pose a challenge for some, as they find certain terminologies difficult to grasp. To address this issue and minimize any potential misconceptions, students have recommended a concise general introduction to several terminologies. This suggestion stems from the awareness that not all students come from a medical background. Consequently, we are in the process of planning an introductory class at the outset of the course. This class aims to familiarize students with commonly used terminologies, providing a foundation for smoother comprehension throughout the course.
tropEd accreditation: Accredited in October 2018 in Berlin. Re-accreditated in EC telco, Dec. 2024
This accreditation is valid until December 2029.
